Rosie's Cottage is a wonderful 150 year old granite built cottage situated in the enchanting village of Mousehole.

The Cottage accommodates up to four guests and two dogs and is ideally situated on the edge of the village only 400m from the harbour. Guests are therefore able to enjoy the benefits of the cottage's sheltered south facing garden and car parking (unallocated) opposite the cottage which is a real bonus as parking is at a premium within the village of Mousehole.
 

'MOWZEL' as Mousehole is pronounced is one of Cornwall's most picturesque villages. The narrow winding streets and stone built cottages snuggle around its romantic harbour. Visitors to Mousehole are captivated by its charm whatever the time of year and Rosie's Cottage is a fabulous base from which to enjoy all that Mousehole and surrounding area has to offer.
 

Lounge:  Guests are welcomed from the garden through the front door and into the lounge where they are greeted by original beamed ceilings and impressive exposed granite wall, with fire place containing electric wood burning stove in cast iron housing. Two comfortable chairs and a sofa bed sit either side of the fire. This room has a TV with Freeview and a DVD player. Telephone for incoming calls only.

Kitchen:  A spacious new fully equipped Maple kitchen leads through from the lounge, with ceramic hob, fan assisted oven with grill, and a microwave. A fridge/freezer and dishwasher are also accommodated within the kitchen along with a filter coffee maker, electric kettle and toaster.  A table with seating for 4 is situated within the kitchen. 

Utility: A separate utility area is attached to the kitchen at the rear of the property overlooking the river and fields. Situated in the utility is a washing machine plus iron and ironing board. 

Upper Floor: Set within the kitchen are the stairs leading to the upper floor upon which are 2 bedrooms and a shower room.

Bedroom 1: This is a spacious beautiful south facing room with two windows allowing the Cornish light to bathe the room. It also overlooks the garden. It contains a very comfortable double bed with brass bedstead, pine wardrobe, dressing table and mirror, and two bedside cabinets.

Bedroom 2: This cosy room is at the rear of the house overlooking the river and fields. It has a single bed and pine dressing table with bedside cabinet and built in wardrobe.

Shower Room: The shower room is compact but perfectly formed with built in electric shower and enclosure, a separate sink and toilet plus electric towel rail.

Parking: Parking is available opposite the cottage but is unallocated.
 

Local Services:

The village has a post office, newsagent and grocer. There are pubs, restaurants and tea rooms. Regular bus service (roughly every helf hour most days) to and from Penzance (approximately 3 miles away) where there is an abundance of shopping facilities to choose from.  Penzance has a railway station with services to St Ives and Truro.

About The Area:

Penzance, Land's End, St. Ives (Tate Gallery), Lamorna, Porthcurno (Minack Theatre), St. Just (Cape Cornwall), Marazion (St. Michael’s Mount) are all in easy reach by car of the cottage. On foot from the cottage guests can access all the amenities of Mousehole with its shops, art galleries and restaurants, the sandy harbour or rocky beach ideal for children with its rock formed swimming pool for when the tide is out and many rockpools to explore. 

Located near to the village is a cave called "Mousehole" which has often been quoted as the explanation of how the village originally got its name.  Another theory is that the name comes from the ancient Celtic words for "the young woman's river" or "the maiden's spring".

Mousehole was once a thriving fishing port and is steeped in history, drawing visitors from all over the world.
It is considered to be one of the most beautiful harbours in the country and is famous for its stunning Christmas lights display.
The local community arrange many events and activities and these are usually advertised outside the village shop. 

Every two years, in the summer, Mousehole holds a small maritime festival called "Sea Salts and Sail"   (dates for 2010 are 9th, 10th and 11th July) which gives the spectator the opportunity to see wonderful traditional sailing craft in full sail participating in races on the water.  There are many demonstrations to enjoy including cookery by local chefs,  crab pot making, tin smelting, plus various displays and guided walks.

Activites such as Horse Riding, Swimming, Snorkelling, Diving, Surfing, Sailing, Windsurfing, Kite Surfing, Cliff Walking and many more are within easy travelling distance.
