About The Area:
A hundred years ago, when Daisy Cottage was built, Helston was an important hub of the Cornish tin mining industry. As a 'coinage' town, tin was brought from the local mines to be valued at the coin exchange, a building which still stands at the top of Coinagehall Street. It is also the home of the ancient Furry Dance, a May day festival that takes place on the 8th May every year.
Once a bustling market town, the old cattle market can still be found alongside the coronation boating lake, both within easy walking distance of the cottage. Also close by is the Penrose Estate, now owned by the National Trust, where you can find woodland walks to the Loe Bar Pool and the fishing village of Porthleven.
At over 400 miles, Cornwall has the longest coastline of any English county. Daisy cottage is just two miles from the sea and within easy reach of hundreds of beautiful beaches and coves, as well as the world famous South West Coast
Path which follows the entire length of the Cornish coast.
