Crowsnest (upper level) and Haywain (lower level) are charming and comfortable holiday properties resulting from the renovation of a 17th Century farmhouse and retaining their original character. Self-contained with separate entrances, they each offer private, self-catering accommodation with magnificent views.

Haywain:

Haywain is the ground floor of the old farmhouse and is entered from the rear of the farmhouse, via a conservatory which enjoys magnificent sea and coastline views.

The conservatory leads into the well-equipped farm kitchen/diner, with electric cooker, microwave oven, toaster, fridge/freezer. The living room has an original open slate fireplace, where a log or coal fire can be enjoyed. It contains a TV with Sky Digital and DVD & VCR players, coffee table, and comfortable suite.

Haywain accommodates a maximum of 4 people in 2 bedrooms - a front bedroom with two single beds, and the rear bedroom with a double bed overlooking sea and valley views. Linen is provided free of charge and beds are made up for your arrival.

At the rear of the farmhouse is a large covered veranda with the view along Trebarwith Valley, where you can enjoy an al fresco meal watching the sun set over Trebarwith Strand. Below the veranda is patio with planted tubs and a washing line. There is also a private lawned garden below the patio, planted with a variety of flowering shrubs with garden furniture and ample room to enjoy a barbecue overlooking the sea.

The family bathroom, entered via a small utility room containing the washing machine/dryer, has bath with shower over, washbasin and toilet. A hair drier, iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and cleaning utensils are provided for your convenience.

Electricity is included in the price. Cot and highchair are available free on request. Children are most welcome but we are unable to accept pets, however there is a local kennels and cattery close by. There is private off-road parking for one car; extra cars by arrangement.

Crowsnest:

Crowsnest is the top floor of the old farmhouse cottage. There are magnificent views of Trebarwith Valley and Port Isaac Bay.

The entrance, via a slate porch, leads upstairs to the hallway, off which all the rooms open. The compact fitted kitchen overlooks sea views, and is equipped with electric hob/oven, microwave oven, toaster, refrigerator, and utensils.

Also overlooking fantastic views, is the lounge/diner, furnished with TV with Sky Digital and DVD & VCR players, dining table and chairs, and 3-piece suite. A doorway leads from the lounge to the conservatory and balcony which, as the cottage name suggests, overlooks the valley and coastline with a birds-eye view. The conservatory is equipped with heating so the spectacular views can be enjoyed at any time of year, no matter what the weather is like.

The cottage sleeps up to 4 people in two separate bedrooms - a double bedroom and a twin bedroom. Linen is provided free of charge and beds are made up for your arrival. The bathroom has bath/shower, electric towel heaters, and underfloor heating. An iron, ironing board, vacuum cleaner, and cleaning utensils are provided for your convenience.

Electricity is included in the price. Children are most welcome but, due to the balcony, this cottage is only suitable for children over 8. We regret we are unable to accept pets, however there is a local kennels and cattery close by. There is private off-road parking for one car; extra cars by arrangement.

A folder of local information is provided in both properties which includes suggestions for places to visit and directions for a number of short walks and longer circular walks in the area.

 Local Services

Trewarmett is a quiet, rural village. There is a pub opposite Park Farm Cottages (recommended by many of our visitors!)
Tintagel is less than one mile away where you can find pubs, clubs, cafes and restaurants, a range of shops including a "Spar" and a "Boots" Pharmacy. Should you wish to not use a car, Tintagel is served by buses and there is a choice of taxi companies.

Within easy motoring distance is the picturesque harbour village of Boscastle and the somewhat larger resort of Bude, the latter offering a golf course, tennis, bowls, horse riding, swimming pools and a leisure complex. The towns of Camelford and Launceston are also within reasonable motoring distance and offer a wide variety of shops.

About The Area:

Park Farm overlooks Trebarwith Valley, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, in what was the slate quarrying region of the 18th century, with the Prince of Wales Quarry and famous 'Engine House' less than 1/2 mile away. Another old quarry, "Jeffrey's Pit", is now used a picnic area at the bottom of the hill on which Trewarmett is perched.

Less than 1 mile down the valley from the cottages is the sandy surf beach of Trebarwith Strand. With its wide expanses of sand, excellent surf and dramatic cliff scenery, it is a popular year-round destination for visitors and locals alike. Amenities include beach shops, cafes and the "Port William", a pub and restaurant overlooking the beach from its clifftop perch.

About 1 mile from the cottages lies Tintagel, with its world famous castle, which legend tells to be the home of King Arthur of Camelot which is celebrated in King Arthur's Great Hall built in the 1930's by an eccentric millionare. Also in Tintagel is "The Old Post Office" - a 14th century manor house and the 900 year old Parish Church of St. Materiana.

Immediately adjacent to Tintagel is the sandy cove of Bossiney. Hidden away by steep cliffs, it is the ideal spot for a picnic or just a day away from it all. Just a short walk along the cliff path brings you to Rocky Valley, a wooded valley with a cascading stream and some stone carvings which are thought by some historians to be Bronze Age.

Just a little further afield is Boscastle, now infamous for its 2004 flooding. However it still retains its beautiful harbour, magnificent ocean scenery, and the charm of a centuries old fishing village.

Delabole, another small village a couple of miles from Park Farm, reflects some of Cornwall's industrial heritage; past and present. The Delabole Slate Quarry, over 500 ft deep, has been working for 400 years, and today welcomes visitors to tour the quarry and walk the footpaths around the quarry.

Across the other side of Port Isaac Bay are the picturesque fishing villages of Port Isaac, Port Gaverne, and Port Quin. They were busy ports in the days of pilchard fishing, and in Port Isaac they still send out boats to catch mackerel, crabs and lobsters that you can buy fresh beside the harbour.

A number of other sandy beaches are within about half an hour's drive including Lundy Bay, Polzeath, Daymer Bay and Widemouth.

Inland, the rugged grandeur of Bodmin Moor with high granite tors and wild vistas is scattered with remains of iron age settlements. It is a scene of legends about strange beasts, giants, kings and smugglers, and also the setting for Daphne du Maurier's famous novel about the Jamaica Inn, which still stands high on the moor.
